Actor Rishi Kapoor today paid
tribute to playback singer
Mohammed Rafi on his 35th
death anniversary today and
thanked him for being his voice in
movies.
He took to Twitter to
express his gratitude to the
singer.
"Thank you Rafi sahab for being
my playback voice. Still
remember you telling me- "Tu
ganda hai meri Awaaz ich, bada
sona lagda hai". Jinda reh," he said.
Rafi gave his voice to many hits
of Rishi like "Dar-e-dil" ('Karz'),
"Chal Mere Bhai" ('Naseeb'),
"Chal Kahin Door Nikal Jayen"
('Doosra Aadmi') and "Shirdi Wale
Saibaba" ('Amar Akbar Anthony').
Md. Rafi was born in Lahore on
december 24, 1924, He first gave
his public performance at the age
of 13, when he was asked to sing
at a concert featuring the
legendary KL Saigal.
Rafi died at the age of 55 on 31st
July 1980. His funeral was one of
the biggest processions mumbai
had ever witnessed with over
10000 people attending.
