Sania Mirza to get Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award

World Number One ranked Women's(Doubles) Indian Tennis sensation Sania Mirza has been recommended by the Sports Ministry for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.

As per News Reports,Sports Minister Sarbanada Sonowal has recommended the Wimbledon doubles champion's name for the highest honour given for achievement in sports.

Sania won her career's first ever women's doubles Grand Slam title with Swiss partner Martina Hingis in wimbeldon recently in June. 

Ajit Sharan, Secretary in the Sports Ministry in New Delhi, however, made it clear that the final decision rest with the Awards Committee.
