Indrani Mukerjea's son Mikhail Bora has claimed that the arrested
media entrepreneur also tried to kill him the very day Sheena Bora was
allegedly murdered in April, 2012, media reports said.
Mikhail and Sheena are Indrani's children from an earlier marriage.Indrani had called Mikhail to her flat in Worli, Mumbai on the
fateful day and spiked his drink but he fled just in time, he said in
his statement to police, The Times of India reported.
Mikhail stays with his ailing maternal grandparents in Guwahati.
The report said Khanna and Indrani had called Mikhail to discuss
Sheena's marriage with media baron Peter Mukerjea's son Rahul, and
offered him a drink laced with sedatives. He started feeling giddy, and
somehow escaped.
Quoting a senior police officer, the newspaper reported that Mikhail
told police that the duo's plan was to call Sheena to the flat and kill
both brother and sister together. But Sheena was not willing to come to
Worli, and thus Indrani told her that she actually wanted to discuss
Sheena's marriage with Rahul. Indrani asked Sheena to meet her at a
spot near National College in Bandra.
Police has said that in all probability Sheena was murdered after she
was picked up by her mother and her driver from outside the National
College.
Another source told the newspaper that Indrani and Khanna had picked
up Sheena under the pretext of buying her an engagement ring from a
well-known showroom in Bandra, but then strangulated her.
NDTV, however, reported that Mikhail told interrogators that he was
staying at the same hotel in Worli as Indrani's ex-husband Sanjeev
Khanna, where his drink has laced with sedatives. The report said,
quoting sources, Mikhail told cops that he suspected that Indrani and
her ex-husband allegedly planned to kill him too after killing his
sister.
The television channel further reported that Indrani got agitated
when asked to confront Mikhail, who was brought to Mumbai from Guwahati
on Friday, in the police station.
She apparently said her son had been demanding money and her refusal to pay him has led to his accusations against her.
